Snow is falling, cashmere is calling.

Posted 19 - 12 - 2009 | 0 comments

So London saw its first few flakes of snow this week although thankfully they were not on the same scale as last year – London transport has held out so far touch wood – but blimey it was nippy.

After helping my friend buy his girlfriend’s Christmas presents in the shop, we sat having a coffee outside Bluebird restaurant.  Yes OUTSIDE.  It was wonderfully Christmassy with the snow falling around us and the faint sound of carols over the speakers, but being wrapped up in my Maddy Thompson cashmere dress and beanie made me particularly smug.  I was warm, my friend echoed this through chattering teeth… Man or mouse?

So I want to show you my favourite cashmere pieces that I hope will make these cold days a little cosier:

“All I want for Christmas…

Posted 17 - 12 - 2009 | 0 comments

…. is yoooouuuu.”  Thus, the immortal words of that most generous spirited songstress, Mariah Carey.  What the song doesn’t continue to say is that Mariah is a multi-millionaire pop star, who already has everything she could ever possibly need or want, so of course all she wants for christmas is a delicious hunk wrapped up in a big bow.

For those of us with less pop star kudos and therefore less in the way of freebies from international designers, Christmas wish lists tend to have a more materialistic slant. I certainly wouldn’t say no to Mariah’s hunk wrapped up in a big bow (although ‘the man’ may have something to say about it…) but I would be extra happy if he was laden with gifts from Austique too!

So, in a shameless show of Christmas-time materialism, here is all I really want for Christmas from the best of Austique’s Christmas gift collection:

I’ll start at the very beginning; it’s a very good place to start, or so the Von Austique_xmas_candlesTrapp family singers would have us believe! Starting small, I would dearly like a Seda France Candle in Rhubarb. These heavenly scents have been wafting down the halls of Austique HQ for weeks now and I think I’m addicted.

To go with my collection of Madeleine Thompson beanies, a Madeleine Thompson Chunky Knit Scarf.

If there’s one thing that’s a safe bet at Austique HQ, it’s that an Austique girl can never have enough bling. And I have a particularly Magpie-esque eye. So the Austique Diamond Initial Pendant would earn extra brownie points!

I’ve had my eye on these stunning python-skin pumps since they arrived last week and am hoping that if I’m a very good girl, santa may just see fit to pop them under the tree for me…

python-shoesFinally, what I really really have my fingers and toes crossed for and what I really hope I’ll get is the Treesje Asher Handbage in Cognac. I have become addicted to Treesje bags over the years; they’re beautifully made, last forever and are always followed down the street by wistful stares from other fashion-savvy ladies. So if there are any Prince Charmings out there, looking to win Austiquegirl’s heart this Christmas, you now hold key! Asher---Cognac

Dress it Up Dress it Down

I’ve been receiving so many compliments on my new Austique Cowl Neck dress everywhere I’ve been. And this dress has taken me to a LOT of places in the last few weeks; from work, to drinks parties to a smart lunch, this dress has definitely earned its (fairly modest) price tag one hundred times over on a cost per wear basis.

So with the help of the lovely Rachel, I thought I’d show you how to dress it up and dress it down to make sure you make the most of it too!

Here she is dressed up with the Austique Python Skin Pumps , Austique gold Python skin belt and  Fabulous Felix Rey Sequin Clutch. This is a great look for the evening and with a different bag, perfect for smart day time occasions too.

And Dressed Down Here with Austique Python Skin Ballet Flats and Treesje Asher Handbag and Cashmere Cardi Wrap. This has become my working uniform- smart but practical with a pair of flats, it’s a real no-brainer!

The dress is also available in Grey.

Christmas Shopping for Busy Bees

Posted 11 - 12 - 2009 | 0 comments

Where has the time gone?!  Austiquegirl has as usual left her Christmas shopping til the last minute, really not a good idea at the best of times, let alone with a family as big as mine.  As much a I love them, they make Christmas shopping a terrifying task!  Not to say the last two weeks have been completely unproductive…  There was the office Christmas party, Tephi preview fashion show, and even a blind date, topped off with an evening at Winter Wonderland last night.  A pretty successful Christmas run I would say, however I have NOT ONE present to show for my efforts, merely a whacking headache each morning.

So can you imagine how happy I was to hear of the latest arrival at Austique.  Alex Monroe, who’s bee necklaces are too beeeautiful for words, is due to come in any day!

My favourite piece in the Alex Monroe collection is the Feather Earrings. Receiving these would definitely make my Christmas (hint hint…)

I’m hoping that this delivery might prove to be the icing on the (Christmas) cake when buying for the girls in my family.  What with the diaries, knickers and jewels in the shop, my mother, sisters and nieces must surely be covered.  The boys will just have to wait.  Ladies first…

Alex Monroe is arriving in-store this week. Please call 0207 376 4555 to speak to a sales advisor who will be happy to help.

I’m sure all of you who entered our Christmas competition have spent many a happy minute planning how to spend the £1000 prize money if you won! Didn’t win? Feeling a bit disappointed? Why not live vicariously through Claire Simpson, who did win the competition and take a look at some of  the lovely loot she’s taken home with her:
