These photographs attest to two things: firstly, I need to buy a new camera and stop using my blackberry to take photos. Secondly, there are some really shockingly bad-taste things out there in the world!
Feeling newly bereft of shopdog, I was taken out by the man yesterday to Columbia rd flower market to cheer me up. Shopdog has been dog-napped by her grandparents for an extended summer holiday in the Isle of Man and so I am feeling a little blue. What better way to forget my woes and get in the mood for summer, than to stroll amongst the hustle and bustle of the busy flower market in the glorious sunshine.
I was particularly taken by the barrow boys (average age approx 12) who were selling their little hearts out with fantastic success! I even considered poaching one for Austique, but wasn’t sure that his tactic of shouting ‘come on down ladies, the price is right. 2o fer a fiver, 20 fer a fiver ’ would go down very well with the yummy mummies of Chelsea.
Imagine my delight to find these rather bad-taste mugs in the window of one of the shops on Columbia road. Not only did they remind me of my beloved shopdog, they also made me laught, a LOT…
Check out the photos below, and a small selection of some of the beautiful flowers on show.
